Family Adventure Week @ Wente Scout Reservation

Sunday, August 4 - Saturday August 10, 2019

A BRAND-NEW EVENT!  Tired of your Scout having all the fun at Camp?  Are you looking for more activities than what is offered at our popular Family Vacation Camp Wknds?  This is your answer for an exciting week in the great outdoors of scenic Mendocino County at Wente Scout Reservation!  Shooting at the ranges, swimming and boating on the lake, horseback and mountain-bike riding along the trails, and challenging skills at Handicrafts or Rock-wall climbing; these are just some of the exciting programs that await your family at Adventure Camp Week!  Our professional kitchen staff will take care of all the cooking, serving you classic camp meals in our large dining hall, and there will be evening campfire programs, ice-cream socials, and movie nights!  So stay the whole week or register for just a few days!

Participate in camp activities hosted by the full Wente Summer Staff members and go on our specially planned field trips and special in camp events.

Archery and BB gun are great fun for everyone, and the rifle and shotgun ranges offer a rousing challenge for older youth and adult campers.  The beautiful 80-acre lake provides a great place to lie in the sun or swim on a warm afternoon. There are plenty of shallow areas for the little ones and areas for the experienced swimmer too!  We offer rowboats, paddleboards, canoes and kayaks, or just lean back and enjoy the sun as a stiff breeze pushes you along in a sailboat. Bring your fishing gear to catch bluegill sunfish or large-mouth bass. Our lake provides excellent fishing even for the smaller children, but don't forget to catch and release! You can enjoy the miles and miles of trails for hiking or riding one of our Western saddle horses. Stop by Handicraft where you can make something that will always remind you of the good times you had at wonderful Wente Scout Reservation Family Adventure Camp!

Learn outdoor skills for all ages from camp staff in our many program areas, then apply these skills with exciting activities daily.  Our schedule is so packed that you could do something new every hour all week, or hang around at a program area and take your time to relax and enjoy something new while your family experiments with other activities.

Adults, check out our new activities at the Lodge Spa at Wente (open for this week-long program only) where parents can get away for special events and relaxation at the quiet side of camp near the Rising W Corral.

The WSR Trading Post offers a variety of ice cream, candy and other snack items as well as Wente Scout Reservation memorabilia and other camping supplies.

Like most national, state, or private campgrounds, you will be sleeping in tents. You have the option to use canvas Boy Scout tents or you can bring your own.  Large groups of multiple families (40 or more people) who wish to camp together can be assigned a large site in advance.  Otherwise all accommodations are selected as first come, first served upon your arrival at camp.  Hot showers and restrooms are conveniently located nearby each of the major campground areas.

One of the best features is that you don't have to cook all week!  All meals on your vacation will be prepared by the professional chef staff at our full service dining hall.
