Dear Valued Volunteers and Scouting Customers in the SFBAC:

In recent weeks the YLTC has migrated to a different phone service provider.  This migration is coincident to becoming fully operational with our new fiber service provided by Lit San Leandro and made possible by a generous grant from the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation.  As with any major adjustment we are discovering some pesky issues that we had not anticipated.  We wanted you to be aware of these issues and let you know that we appreciate your patience as we resolve them.

Yesterday afternoon (March 20, 2018) there was a minor power blip which caused the shut-down of our phones for calls both into and out of the YLTC.  Thankfully we still have internet with email capacity.  We are working right now to resolve this issue.

The other pesky problem is that for some reason with our new phone service provider our outgoing calls show up on your caller ID as ‘Unavailable’ or sometimes ‘Private’.   We are working to resolve this issue as well and we once more urge you to be patient.

You might wonder why we are making this migration in the first place.  The answer is that our operations budget will see significant savings this year and in the years to come on the utility cost of phone service.  And the decision to move to fiber has increased our internet traffic speed from barely 6mgs (on a good day) to nearly 1gig.

Thank you for all you do for Scouting in the Bay Area.
