To: The Scouting Family of the San Francisco Bay Area Council, BSA
Dear Scouting Family and Donors:
The Executive Board of the SFBAC met at noon on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 and conducted a lengthy discussion concerning the Council’s response to the National BSA Membership Standards resolution. The resolution if passed, among other requirements, says that, no youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone.
Following this in-depth discussion and after considering a multitude of facts, survey data, and the possible impacts and effects of the proposed change to the policy, the Executive Board was nearly unanimous in its support of the resolution. The representatives of our council who will be voting at the national BSA meeting on May 23rd have been duly notified of this vote by our Executive Board.
