  • Community Service Work:

    • During this past summer, if your Unit performed any community service projects, rather with your Den, Pack, or Troop, qualifies you to register those service hours before they can count towards your Unit. The 'Scouting for Food Drive' back in November 2007 also qualifies for the service hours. In our District, we had only one Unit registering their service hours for the project. The 'Flag Planting Day' back on May 24th is also one of those service projects your Unit can qualify for. To register your service hours, you need the Unit's ID number, the Unit leader who has the number and is responsible for registering the hours, tallying up the total hours and visiting the 'Good Turn for America' website. That is all there is to it. I will even provided the links below for your conveniences. Please register those service hours now.

on Ocean Ave. They do carry a limited supply of uniforms and other
necessities for your boys. They do have the kits for your Pinewood
Derby and others. They have all the books from Tiger and on up. They do
not take advancement forms or any administrative materials. You will
still have to go to the Council centers for that. Of course you can do
that on line now. Franciscan Hobbies Website-

  • Program Updates:

  • The new Scout Application forms no longer have the Personal Health History form on the backside of each application. You have to go to our website and download the Class 1-2 Personal Health and Medical Record [41] form, fill it out and turn it in along with your application.

  • Also, please note on the same Personal Health and Medical Record form, has a section for you to give authorization for photos that may be taken of your child during Scouting activities or events. Your child's name is never disclosed on any photos used on any of the Council or District web pages. Any photos taken of any child, may it be yours or any other registered Scout in our Council, are used on our website only for informational and promotional purposes of the Scouting program.

  • The Council has come out with a new training segment as part of the continual Council Scouting Trail Award program. The new segment that you may earn is the Roundtable training segment. To earn the training segment, you must complete a short list of requirements. After completing the listed requirements, turn the application [42] in to your Roundtable Commissioner to sign you off. Then you qualify to purchase the segment through your Training committee in your District or at the Council office.

This is also the place where you can complete your Youth Protection Training, and all other supplemental training's, like Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat.

  • The Boy Scouts of America's national office has implemented the National Strategic Plan and Centennial Quality Award. This new award program is designed to recognize units, districts, councils in providing a quality program to the youths in America at all levels of the BSA. The new program replaces the current Quality Unit Awards, which ended in 2006. Starting with last year 2007, through 2010, are where the requirements will be incorporated into your program.

You may access the website for more information and to download the forms that your Unit will need. http://www.scouting.org/awards/centennial/ [46]
