The San Francisco Bay Area Council provides a number of programs and services for Scouts and Scouters in addition to Camping and Training programs.
Good Turn for America is a national call to service by the Boy Scouts of America that will help provide adequate food and shelter and to develop good health habits in our nation. To address these issues, we are collaborating with some of the most respected service organizations working in each of these areas. These lead organizations, and thousands of other local groups, will work to provide volunteer opportunities for youth and adults to fight hunger, provide shelter, and teach the habits of healthy living.

Kandersteg International Scout Center:
Founded in 1923, the World Scout Center was the dream of Lord Baden-Powell and is open to Scouts from all over the world. It is often described as a permanent World Jamboree with over 10,000 youth from over 40 countries visiting each year. The Center, which is located about 65 km South of Bern, is staffed with experienced international Scouts and Scouters, with the official language being English. It has an extensive program of activities including day and overnight hikes in the Alps, rock climbing, mountain biking, rafting, and sightseeing trips. Activities at the Center include social get-togethers, workshops, and competition, focusing on building international friendships.
The Trip:
We will fly to Switzerland and spend six days taking part in activities at Kandersteg – some of which will be of a high-adventure nature. Accommodation at Kandersteg will be in one of the chalets with full board. After we depart Kandersteg we will tour Switzerland by train for five days prior to returning home. The approximate cost for the trip is $2000 to $2200, including all travel, lodging, meals, and activities. The exact cost will depend on activities we choose and airfares available at the time of booking.
Requirements:
To attend you must be between the ages of 14 and 20 on June 21, 2008, and in good physical health.
