Internet Advancement -

Reporting advancement is a requirement of the Boy Scouts of America.  Internet Advancement makes this a simple process for reporting Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Sea Scout ranks; Venturing awards; and activity badges, belt loops, and merit badges.

Simple and intuitive, the system works using Internet Explorer 6 or higher. Units can enter advancement at any time, print reports, and obtain current rosters from the BSA system.

Units select an advancement processor who is granted access with a unit ID.  They access Internet Advancement through the council’s website or from MyScouting.  Ranks must be entered in sequence based on unit program type.  The system validates entries against advancement rules and generates error messages as appropriate. Errors must be corrected before the process can proceed.  Once this is done, the unit can print an advancement report, sign it, and forwarded it to the council.  They can also print order sheets for the Scout Shop.

Eagle Scout Rank Process

The council Advancement Committee has prepared the Life to Eagle Candidate Letter and Instructions to explain and provide links to references and guides to the process of earning Eagle Scout.  Please download and follow the instructions.

The Eagle Reference Cover Letter is an explanation of the Scout Oath and Scout Law to be shared with the persons from whom references are requested to meet Requirement number 2.  It is recommended that a printed copy be given to each individual who agrees to provide a reference.  Please DO NOT have reference letters sent to the council service center.  They are to be mailed directly to the Review Coordinator for your district.  Failure to do so can cause delay in scheduling your Board of Review.  There is a template to prepare envelopes in the Life to Eagle Candidate Letter and Instructions.

Eagle Scout Boards of Review are convened by the council’s districts.  You must complete an Eagle Scout Rank Application to get the necessary data to the Board.  To ensure that your application reflects the information in BSA’s data bases, it is recommended that you ask your unit Advancement Coordinator to prepare a Member Profile from Internet Advancement for you.  Ensure that dates that merit badges were earned (Requirement 3) are after the data base recorded “Date became a Boy Scout” and that Positions of Responsibility are after the date for “Life Scout Board of Review”.

Life Scouts are required to use the BSA Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook to complete Requirement number 5.  BSA’s Service Project Planning Guide and Age Guidelines for Tool Use and Work at Elevations or Excavations must be used in the planning and execution of your project.

When you have completed the first six Requirements, you must complete and sign an Eagle Scout Rank Application including a statement of ambitions and life purpose and leadership positions outside of Scouting and submit to your unit leader and committee chair.  When they finish, unit processing it must be submitted to the council service center.  Personal delivery, or delivery by registered or certified mail is recommended.

IMPORTANT:  You must make arrangements to deliver two copies of your Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook to your Review Coordinator.

In the council service center, your application will be verified by the Registrar and forwarded to your Review Coordinator.  The Review Coordinator will contact you with the status of your application, letters of reference, and any difficulties with them.  They will schedule your Eagle Scout Board of Review.

PLEASE REMEMBER ... After you have had your Board of Review, the Board signed original Eagle Scout Rank Application must to be returned to the council service center so it can be submitted to the National Council for final approval and to create your Eagle Scout rank credentials. When the credentials have been received, your unit leader will be informed that they are ready for pick up in the council service center.

This posting is only an overview of the Life to Eagle Candidate Letter and Instructions.  Please download and follow those instructions.
