Scouters!

Thank you for taking a moment to consider a gift to Scouting! We appreciate you and all you do for the young men and women in our program!

2018 is a monumental year in the San Francisco Bay Area Council and it is first and foremost monumental because of our youth. Young women have been welcomed into Cub Scouting and are beginning to take part in our program. We are excited to see the benefits of Scouting being brought to all our youngsters.

In 2017, our 100th anniversary of Scouting in the Bay Area we welcomed 208 new Eagle Scouts into the Eagles Nest and encouraged and supported 10,451 young men and women in our programs. Combined these young people contributed 110,550 hours of community service to Alameda and San Francisco counties.

We are proud of Eagle Scout Ben Sebastian who used his Scouting Skills to save a life despite great risk to himself. He is one of over 10,000 Eagle Scouts from the San Francisco Bay Area council in the past 100 years.

Friends of Scouting is the only time we ask for our parents to contribute to the council. Registration fees are directed directly to the National BSA and Unit Dues stay within your Packs and troops. Left in the middle is the local council who provides many of the services we all rely upon. Including:

  • Training for our 3,500 volunteers
  • Year Round upkeep of our council camps (Camp Royaneh, Rancho Los Mochos and Wente Scout Reservation)
  • Professional Staff
  • Support Staff
  • Camp Promotions
  • Administrative Support
  • The Service Center in San Leandro>
  • Reference Publications and Resources

We hope you see the value in Scouting and make a contribution for your Scouts. It takes us $5.4 Million dollars to support our youth. Approximately $509 per youth. We ask that you give what you can to support a Scout. Don’t give until it hurts your family but give until you feel good about supporting your boys.

Why should I give to Friends of Scouting?

Friends of Scouting is an opportunity for our members to financially commit to support our local council.

Iceberg Analogy

I already paid my child's registration and his unit collects annual dues.  Haven't I already supported Scouting?

Your child's registration fee goes directly to the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America. If your child's Scout unit collects dues, that money stays with the unit to help pay for trips and other activities.  None of that money helps the San Francisco Bay Area Council pay for:

  • Maintaining and staffing the council's 3 camping properties
  • Training thousands of adult volunteer leaders in youth protection
  • Providing programs like Tiger Cub Safari, Cub Scout Day Camp, Cub Scout Adventure Camp, Cub Scout Partner Campouts, Cub Scout Resident Camp, Webelos Adventure Camp, Boy Scout Summer Camp, Boy Scout Eagle Camp, Brownsea Youth Leadership Training, Venturing Spring and Fall Activities
  • Updating this website, to try and better inform you about upcoming Scouting events and programs.

We need your support!
