Canoe Wilderness Tripping
HAT: Wilderness Canoe
HAT announces a class on Wilderness Canoe Tripping. At this two-session class (indoor and a weekend outdoor) participants will learn the skills and get the information needed to conduct a successful wilderness canoe trip with youth. Some of the course topics include canoe handling; packing to stay dry’ wet weather fires; trip planning; group organization and gear. Students are responsible for the acquisition of canoe for the outdoor session. This process will be covered in the first (Indoor) session
If you are planning to visit Northern Tier Canoe Base or do a “50 Miler” this is a must course for your adult leaders.
A current Annual Health and Medical Record is required for this course.
Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat are also required for this course. These can be taken online at MyScouting.org
Dates:
- Indoor Session: July 10, 2010 at the Youth Leadership Training Center in San Leandro.
- Outdoor Session: July 17-18, 2010, at a location with water that is to be determined.
